While you are at The Pennsylvanian you will find much of the Golden Triangle, or central urban core, to be walkable. However, the areas around The Pennsylvanian are also easily accessible by train, taxi, car services, and public transportation.
Downtown is serviced by the Port Authority's light rail subway system (known to the locals as the "T"). This is an extensive network that will aid you in arriving at your destination. The Downtown Subway has 6 stations, with others under construction.
Here are a few of your transportation options:
The T (Subway):
- Serves downtown Pittsburgh with a four-stop loop which includes stops at:
- Grant Street
- Gateway Center Plaza (Liberty Avenue and Stanwix Street)
- Wood Street
- And the First Avenue Parking Garage
- While underground you will be serenaded by classical music.
- If you need to leave downtown, you can also travel across the river to Station Square on the South Side. The T also takes you to the south suburbs.
Public Busses:
- There are several bus routes around Pittsburgh that connect downtown to other attractions on the North Side and Oakland as well as most of the neighborhoods around Pittsburgh.
Duquesne & Monongahela Inclines:
- Here in the heart of Pittsburgh you will find two of the only remaining inclines in the country. This is what you want to ride if what you are looking for is a marvelous view.
- These two inclines ride up and down Mt. Washington, across the Monongahela River from downtown.
