Located at the northern corner of The Golden Triangle, The Pennsylvanian positions you at the city's very center – its beating heart, and the core of its history. The Golden Triangle, as it's known to insiders and Pennsylvania aficionados alike, is Pittsburgh''s downtown business district – an urban network of streets and bridges, where the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers meet to join with the grand Ohio River. The "triangle" structure of downtown is, hence, formed by these two rivers. The "golden" part of the equation comes from the fact that this area has historically been the city's commercial center – housing major corporations the likes of Mellon Financial, Heinz, Federated Investors, PNC Bank, US Steel, PPG, and Alcoa. This is the very spot where industrial barons such as Andrew Carnegie, Henry Clay Frick, and George Westinghouse made their fortunes, cladding their success in: gold.
Also aiding to connect the "golden" part of the Golden Triangle are the many bridges that are painted a special Aztec Gold, in honor of the city''s "golden" traditions. As you will soon find out when you reach The Pennsylvanian, Pittsburgh is called the "City of Bridges" with good reason. A great part of uniting the city's rivers - bits and pieces - one to the other are these very bridges. City-wide there are 446 bridges. In Allegheny County the number exceeds 2,200.
At the Pennsylvanian you will be near many of these bridges, giving you easy access in and out of the neighborhoods you would like to travel to and from. You will also be saturated by the city's aforementioned history, as well as its attractions.
